CHOCOLATE COVERED STRAWBERRIES

With Holidays here and Valentine's day less than two months away, this is my way of making chocolate covered strawberries.

Ingredients:

16 large strawberries washed and dried well
8oz (200gr) semisweet chocolate chips (can use milk chocolate)
2 teaspoons pure vegetable oil (works as shortening for the chocolate)

Directions:

  1. You can melt chocolate in two ways-in microwave or by making a double boiler. To make the double boiler fill a median saucepan with some water and bring to a simmer over low to medium heat. Put the semisweet chocolate in a heatproof bowl. Set bowl over saucepan, making sure the bowl is not touching the water in the pan. Add vegetable oil, which will help the chocolate melt smooth and will give strawberry coating glossy look. Stir until chocolate is smooth.
  2. Remove chocolate from the heat . Line parchment paper over sheet pan.or cover a high edged plate with plastic wrap to make a smooth surface for laying dipped strawberries. Dip strawberries in melted chocolate holding them by the stem and slightly twisting to make even coating. Set them on parchment paper or plastic wrap.
  3. Once all strawberries are dipped, put them in the refrigerator for 15 minutes, so chocolate can set. Make sure you take them out after that.

You can enjoy them once chocolate sets.
