Coffee Rubbed Flank Steak

Today's food recipe is for coffee-rubbed flank steak. Coffee and steak might sound a little strange together, but they pair very well together in this recipe. This dish can be served with grilled vegetables, rice, potatoes or salad. You can grill this steak or oven bake it.

Servings - 4

What you'll need:

Ingredients:

1 lb flank steak (you can substitute with skirt steak)
1 1/2 teaspoon ground coffee
1 1/2 teaspoon paprika
1 teaspoon crushed red pepper
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon ground black pepper
2 tablespoons (vegetable) oil
Optional- you can add 1/4 teaspoon dried oregano and 1/4 teaspoon ground cumin

Directions:

Preheat a grill, grill pan or skillet. Combine coffee, paprika and crushed red pepper (you can add oregano and cumin if you'd like). Add salt and pepper. Rub the spice mixture all over steak. Cook 5-7 minutes per side on medium heat for medium-medium rare (depending on thickness). Let the steak rest for at least 5 minutes. Thinly slice against the grain of the meat.
