Banana Walnut Bread |
Banana bread is a standard recipe of American Cookbooks. The perfect recipe for when you have some very ripe bananas that seem uneatable. It is easy and fun to make and I love the nutty buttery smell of it. Made with baking soda, baking powder and ripe bananas this recipe will help you make a sweet moist cake like bread. I like adding walnuts which makes it more tasty and flavorful.
This recipe makes 1 loaf or about 12 thin slices. I am using 11"x5"x3" loaf pan.
Ingredients:
2 very ripe bananas mashed
1 cup walnuts
2 large eggs
1.5 cup flour
1 cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon baking powder
4 oz (125 gr) butter + more for greasing the pan
pinch of salt
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 325 F (160 C).
- Combine flour, salt, baking powder and baking soda. Set aside for when needed.
- Cream butter and sugar until fluffy.
- Beat eggs in a bowl and add vanilla. Add egg and vanilla mixture to butter and sugar and mix well.
- Mix in mashed bananas, flour mixture and walnuts. Keep mixing until well combined.
- Pour batter into a buttered and lightly floured pan. Flouring the pan helps the bread rise well and prevents any collapse after it comes out of the oven.
- Bake for 1 hour on 325F (160 C) or until toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Let it cool for 15 minutes before taking the bread out of the pan.
